Allegedly sponsored by a wealthy female admirer, a Belgian countess, Branca's career was relatively shortlived, starting just after World War Two, before finishing in sportscars in 1955, after a few years in hillclimbing. Racing his own Maserati 4CL, he was a consistent, albeit fairly average driver at Grand Prix level, which he competed in during the 1940's and 1950's, with his best result probably being sixth in the non-championship Pescara Grand Prix in 1951.
