Real name Emmett, he passed away after a spell of ill-health. Mainly based in midgets, supermodified and sprint cars. Buzz grew up in California and his first job was working on the railroad, where he met a few racing enthusiasts which lead to him working for an auto part company during the day and becoming a racing mechanic in the evenings. This eventually led to him taking up the sport in 1935, initially returning to Oklahoma, where he had his greatest success and then to Tampa, Florida, where when he wasn't racing, worked as a truck driver. He carried on racing until 1973, when 56 years of age, and then returned to Oklahoma to live near a lake to enjoy retirement.
