Swiss Formula 3 champion in 1978, Formula 2 proved a step too far in his March 802. He now works at Franks Originale, where he started as an apprentice mechanic at the beginning of his career in the late 1970's. He drives in classic car events and has a real love of slot car racing, which he has done since he was a boy. Patrick was also a graduate of European Formula Vee, finishing third in the series in 1977. Studer also had a very brief appearance in British Formula 3 in 1978, competing in Formel Rennsport's Chevron B43 entered car. As well as working as a mechanic, he was also a trained pilot who flew for Lufthansa and Swissair.
