A watchmaker all his life, racing was a pastime rather than a serious venture for him. His family have been watchmakers for decades, and Laurent still runs a hugely successful luxury watchmaking and jewellery firm. Ferrier, a life-long resident of Geneva, was best in sportscars, working closely with Fred Stalder, who appreciated his talent. Ferrier went on to be a gentleman racer in sportscars until the mid-1980's before stopping to concentrate on the family business.
