World War One veteran, who initially started racing in bikes. Self-funded his very own Aston-Butterworth attempt which he also raced. Carried on racing until the 1960's and was also a civil engineer and fruit farmer by trade. Aston started off as a test pilot for Vickers, but didn't really move forward as a racer until 1949, when he took a number of Formula 3 wins. Retired after racing Mini's in 1965, a change from the sportscars and saloon cars he raced in for the majority of his career.
