Technical director of Lotus, who had been with the team in its different guises for some while and remained with them in yet another guise when it became Renault in 2016. He stayed at the team until 2019. In 2020, he became Mercedes Formula E technical director. An engineering graduate from Cambridge University, Chester joined Arrows as a race engineer in 1995, where he remained until 2000, when he moved to Renault in the same role. Since then he worked with the team as the head of their vehicle performance group, Head of Performance Systems and as engineering director. He is currently working with the potential Andretti F1 team as a technical director.
