Transmissions expert who worked with McLaren for years in their special project division. David is now retired, having finally bowed out of the sport in 2014 after a long spell with Lotus F1 as Head of Advance Projects. An aerospace engineer, who graduated from the University of Southampton with a mechanical engineering degree, he also had a long spell at Brabham, and a shorter one at Ralt. Despite his retirement, he keeps links with the sport via his former colleagues.
