Started off as a fabricator for Ensign whilst still at college, before moving into engine design for Ricardo Plc. In 1996, he joined McLaren and remained there until 2015. In 2015, he founded his own consultancy company, MW Consulting. Initially he was involved with the McLaren F1's Super Touring Car engineering programme, before moving onto the F1 side of the company as senior test team engineer. Mark then became Head of Vehicle Engineering, which meant he was responsible for the integration of all aspects of vehicle development within both race and test engineering. When he is not involved with his work, Mark likes to sail his narrow boat.
