Alpine boss from 2024 onwards, Oliver is the son of Billy Oakes, who formerly ran a Formula Renault and Formula 3 team. Oakes began racing in karts, aged just four years old, in 1992. In 2005, he won the Karting World Championship. He then competed in Formula BMW, securing a McLaren Autosport BRDC Young Driver of the Year nomination. He then joined his dad's team in British Formula 3 in 2008, but stopped racing in 2010. In 2011, he set up a karting team, before setting up Hitech in 2015. Since then he has also been a driver manager, working with Callum Ilott and Nikita Mazepin amongst others. Hitech ran in Formula 2 and Formula 3 but Oakes was also behind a Hitech F1 bid.
