Teams: | Ensign (1973-1982) |
Driver in Formula 3 and Formula 5000, who founded Ensign. Mo had been based in America for years, as a technical director, team boss or chief engineer, in both CART and the IRL. Later worked as a consultant and enjoyed playing golf. Nunn took up racing in 1963, at the relatively late age of 24, but by 1966, had become Lotus' factory British Formula 3 driver. In 1969, Nunn beat James Hunt and Francois Cevert but when a F1 testing opportunity for Lotus fell through, Nunn didn't have the finance to keep racing. He became a constructor but struggled until he joined up with Rikky von Opel in Formula 3 and then up to Formula 1. Nunn's neat car and von Opel's money helped propel Ensign into the big time, where they remained for a decade. Sadly died in 2018 after an extended spell of battling ill-health.
