Born:

18 Dec 1954
Rotherham, Yorkshire

Nationality:

Great Britain

Teams:

Virgin, Marussia, Manor (2010-2015)

Former butcher and Formula Ford driver, who briefly raced against Ayrton Senna. Booth founded the Manor Motorsport team in 1990, one year after he stopped racing. They started in Formula Renault, before moving into Formula 3, and then Formula 1 in 2010, initially as their own name, but then, after takeovers, Virgin and Marussia. Booth remained in charge of the team as team principal until the team disbanded in 2014, but after a lot of hard work and good fortune, the team returned as Manor again, in 2015. However, at the end of 2015, Booth left the team he founded, or at least one entity of it - the Formula 1 side. John and former Manor F1 colleague Graham Lowdon then ran a Manor Motorsport team in the World Endurance Championship. In 2016, John returned to Formula 1 as a consultant to Toro Rosso but left them in 2018 and is currently not in the sport.
