Still working in motorsport, as a car designer, but also retains a link to Lotus through the historic racing scene. Martin has also worked on designing gliders. Ogilvie ran his own business, PCD (Prototype Car Design), becoming, in particular, a specialist in designing successful hillclimbing racing cars from 1996 onwards. Martin also has designed his own Lotus 7 version for himself to race, and the Westfield FW400 road and track car which featured one of Martin's specialities, carbon fibre design. A mechanical engineering graduate from Birmingham University, Martin worked at Girling initially, designing brakes to be used for Formula 1. One of the customers was Lotus, with whom Martin spent nearly 15 years. He worked on the famed Lotus 72 and latterly was chief designer until the late 1980's. After spells with Racing Team Norfolk and Prodrive, working on sportscars, single-seaters and touring cars, he started his hillclimb project.
