Great Britain |
Teams: | Arrows, Benetton, Ferrari, Beatrice Haas, Brawn, Mercedes (1985-2013) |
Left his role of team manager of Mercedes in 2013, after a spell previously of running his own team, Brawn, for one year, which saw them win the drivers and constructor championships. Had a long spell as Ferrari's Formula 1 technical director and Ross was hugely instrumental in Michael Schumacher's success during his Ferrari days. Made an OBE in 2010. After originally weighing up a short sabbatical from the sport, Ross retired from modern racing and visited historic events and also drove a car at the annual London-Brighton run. He still likes to attend tours in some of his many cars, as he has a very large car collection. But it is also fishing that is Ross' great love, and he spends time now doing that sport. However in 2017, he returned to the modern racing game in a big way, become the new Formula 1 technical and sporting director for Liberty Media, a role he continued until retirement in 2022.
