Took over as McLaren's senior technical director in 2024, joining them from Red Bull. Initially he started his career in the design department at Rolls Royce before joining Benetton as a race engineer in 1994. He stayed at the team, in its various guises, until 2005. During that time, he worked on a mass damper system that was influential in the team winning the 2005 Drivers and Constructors Championship. From 2006 until 2023, Marshall was part of Adrian Newey's design team at Red Bull, as well as acting as Chief Engineering Officer.
