Went into GT design with Gerard Larrousse's and latterly, Paul Belmondo's teams. Costa is no longer involved with the sport which he entered in 1980, initially as a driver, building his own car, in Formula Renault. At the time he was working as a research and development engineer for Chrysler but his efforts earnt him a role at AGS, where he worked as assistant chief designer. In 1988, he followed lead designer Vanderpleyn to Coloni, but returned to AGS in 1989. He finished his F1 career with Andrea Moda in 1992.
