Sadly died recently. Spent over 35 years in Formula 1 - initially starting with Matra and was integral in the team's Formula 1 and sportscar success. After F1, Gerard worked as head of development at Matra and then as technical director at Venturi. He then returned to Matra as a development director and consultant, but he was also involved in historic events in France, especially anything to do with Lotus, whose fortunes he helped turn around in the mid 1980's.
