Died after a long battle against cancer in March 2022. Until the onset of illness and the COVID-19 pandemic, Elford was a regular after-dinner speaker, visited historics and kept many motorsport links and still did consultancy work for Porsche. Vic also ran a driving school and relatively recently brought out his third book on driving, combined with his role as performance driving instructor. Elford was one of the most versatile drivers of his generation - if not of all-time - with a string of rally, touring car, sports car and single-seater wins between his debut in 1960 and his last really competitive race in 1984. Elford was also a team manager between 1977 and 1980, including for ATS and Audi.
