Now retired after running his CART team for aeons, stopping in 1996 after 30 years in the sport. However he is still a frequent visitor to historic events and has business interests. The 1964 USRRC Champion, Hall also won the 1965 Sebring 12 Hours and the 1965 Canadian Grand Prix (held as a sportscar race). But it was part of the groundbreaking Chaparral outfit that Hall will always be remembered for - Hall was a pioneer of ground-effect, aerofoils andcomposite racing chassis and also introduced the first fan car. A Cal-Tech graduate, Hall lost his parents and sister in a light aeroplane crash and the money he inherited was helpful for racing, but he also ran the family oil business and also ran a Maserati dealership before establishing his own chassis in 1961.
