Best described as an ambassador for the sport, Moss was a living legend, knighted in 2000. In 2018, after being in poor health since 2016, Moss decided to finally retire from public life, having been a staunch regular at pretty much every major historic event, although he retired from racing in them in 2011. He lost his fight against ill-health on Easter Day 2020. This busy schedule was despite both a fight against prostate cancer, as well as somehow surviving a 3 floor fall from an open lift shaft in 2010. Amongst his non-racing activities were a TV narrating role in a children's TV series, Rory the Racing Car and he was a broadcaster for nearly 20 years for ABC's Wide World of Sports. In 2010, Sir Stirling did an interview for this website, which can be found at the below link.
