Only retired from his midget chassis building in his 80's. He then spent time restoring vintage cars and building scale model cars. Edmunds started his career in 1948 under an alias, but it was his car building skills that he became most famous for. He worked as a mechanic in Ed Kuzma's design shop and then built cars which were then raced by the likes of Tom Bigelow and Lee Kunzman. Overall, in just over 15 years, his AutoResearch shop in Anaheim built over 700 cars, including midgets, sprint and Indy cars, as well as numerous Formula Vee cars. He was the last survivor of the 1957 Indianapolis 500 when he died just shy of 90 years of age in 2020.
