Bubby was still working as a promoter well into his 70's as well as a mentor to many sprint car drivers. Was formerly the track manager of Perris Auto Speedway, California, and was later involved in track operations in Indiana. A sprint car legend, he continued to attend all kinds of USAC meetings, historic or otherwise until a short while before his death. Real name was Norman. Jones was inducted into the National Sprint Car Hall of Fame in 1998. Jones initially started racing in motorcycles, but switched to cars to help out his brother-in-law, as his original driver had been injured. Bubby was also a barber, and this was his trade alongside racing cars for quite some while.
