Much better known as a midget ace, who was particularly successful in local events and won the 1967 UARA Midget championship. However he also raced in sprint cars, stock cars and Trans-Am during his career. Died in 2019 after suffering from Alzheimer's Disease. Until his illness, Roger made visits to midget events, both current and historic, and also enjoyed power boating. For over 40 years, he worked as a real estate agent in his home town for his wife's firm and also worked as an agricultural machinist. In the 1980's, during the craze for BMX bikes, West owned and ran the BMX Warehouse in Joliet.
