Killed in a road accident, dying of injuries sustained in a crash, after apparently falling ill at the wheel of his car. Up to his death, he was based in Wellsville, Pennsylvania, where he ran Karl Racing Enterprises, which acted as a major distributor for synthetic lubricants and also steering and suspension components to the racing car world. A qualified pilot for both aeroplanes and helicopters, Jerry raced in a number of series, including midgets, sprints and single-seaters, for over 30 years.
