Midget driver ace, a popular driver who kept links with the sport for most of his life, mainly through his role as a racing photographer. Died recently after a long period of ill-health. Kay was inducted into the New England Auto Racing Hall of Fame in 2006. Kay served his country in the US Navy during World War Two before becoming a very capable midget driver in the ARDC Series post-War. In 1950, he won the Night Before The Speedway midget race held before the Indianapolis 500. Kay switched to sprint car racing in 1968 and then despite age and injuries, carried on racing until the mid 1980's competitively, before moving into historic racing for another decade.
