Killed in the Coupe de Vitesse at Reims, just a week after his Grand Prix debut. Son of an American coffee plantation owner who was originally from St. Vincent, Fraser was really making his mark in sportscars when he died, becoming the first man to die in a Lotus racecar. Despite growing up in Brazil, Mackay was schooled in America before enlisting for the US Army in 1944, although he never ended up seeing action. Well used to travelling, Fraser lived for a while in London. Had he lived, Fraser had been lined up to race for BRM in 1958.
