An efficient road and circuit racer, who raced solely in Argentina, almost exclusively in touring cars, he died relatively recently in his home town. Ten years after his death in late 2015, Pergamino set up a permanent memorial to Iglesias in the main municipal park, which back in the 1950's held a motor race which Jesus won. Jesus competed in 218 races, winning 58 of them and coming second 43 times. Iglesias was also a friend, advisor and hero to another Argentine touring car legend, Juan Maria Traverso, who showed his thanks to Jesus by attending the event in 2015.
