Friend and protege of fellow Balcarcan resident, Juan-Manuel Fangio, Bordeu retired from racing in 1973 and then became involved in motorsport administration, becoming Argentina's delegate of FISA, with a seat on the World Motorsport Council until his death, from leukemia. But Bordeu was a decent driver and was winner of the 1966 Turismo Carretera series. Bordeu was entered for the 1961 French Grand Prix but he broke his leg testing at Goodwood before the event and rather unfairly, never got another chance to have a go at Formula 1, despite strong Formula Junior performances prior to his crash.
