Was a restaurateur in Los Angeles briefly but best remembered in the area for his stunt driving and car preparation work for the movie industry, which he did for some time, only stopping a short time before his death. He stunt drove for films such as The Love Bug, Return from Witch Mountain and Smokey and the Bandit Ride Again amongst others. Forever in the record books as the last man to have driven a Maserati 250F in the World Championship, a car which his friend Joe Lubin bought, Drake was predominantly a sportscar driver in SCCA events on the West Coast, with many wins over the years. Drake continued to race, mainly in sportscars, until 1966.
