Won the 1952 AAA Champ Car series and carried on racing until 1968. A slightly underrated driver and now largely forgotten racer, Chuck also won his class in two successive years in the rather brutal Carrera PanAmericana road race event, winning the sedan class in 1952 and 1953 when he drove a Lincoln Capri. Stevenson will always remain as the only person to win his class twice in the short history of the event. Chuck also holds an unique record at Milwaukee; in 1953, he won the last race held there when it was a dirt-track. In 1954, newly paved, the track saw Stevenson win again in its first race in the spring. Chuck also had a brief spell in NASCAR, winning a race at Willow Springs in 1956. Chuck's son, by the same name, later raced in sprint, stock and midget cars in the 1970's before becoming a musician. Chuck was also a flying instructor, instructing pilots in a Stearman biplane.
