Later became a hugely successful horse trainer, after previously becoming an Argentine polo legend after racing. Died after an operation for treatment after a heart-attack, but he was also suffering from diabetes and Parkinson's. Carlos was also a national junior tennis champion in his youth. Whilst unquestionably fast, Carlos didn't have a lot of mechanical sympathy and this denied him better results; most notably the 1956 Argentine Grand Prix, when a broken gearbox through a mis-timed gear change denied him a famous and surprise win. However Carlos did win the Buenos Aires 1000kms that year.
