Kept up links with motorsport until his death, in a traffic accident, aged just 42. Birger started racing in 1947 driving a Ford Turismo Carretera, but after numerous mechanical issues in that year and the subsequent two years thereafter, Pablo left the sport. When he came back it was as a single-seater driver and he instantly enjoyed more success. He took a number of wins in the Mecanica Nacional single-seater series in 1951 and 1952 which earnt him an entry for the 1953 Argentine Grand Prix. That year also saw him return to touring cars; this time the efforts were more successful. His brother Alfredo Emilio also raced and worked as Pablo's mechanic. Birger retired in 1955 to concentrate on his business interests, which he kept doing until his death, which occurred on the way to a business meeting.
