Charles Childs Leighton lived in California for seventy years, moving to Arizona in 1994. Chuck carried on racing until the 1950's, but remained linked to the sport; he was the first vice-president of the California Racing Association which he helped form in 1946. Leighton worked specifically in the plastic injection moulding business from 1945 until the 1980's. He moulded parts for other companies and developed and designed his own moulds. He later served as Pesident of Southern California Chapter in 1970, and in 1977 he was named Western Plastics Man of the Year. In 1989, he was elected to the national Plastics Pioneers Association.
