Involved in Formula 1 and road car projects for many years, a stroke in 1993 led to life in a wheelchair. He still retained a small role within the car industry until his death after a long illness in 2003. Alejandro was son of an Argentine politician who served in the government, but he soon emigrated to Modena to establish himself in the sport, initially working as a mechanic at Maserati. He retired in 1959 to establish his racing car construction business, initially building Formula Junior cars before trying F1 and then into road cars, briefly returning to the sport in partnership with Frank Williams in 1970.
