Was linked with Ferrari and Maserati's historic events, and appeared at as many as he could get to. Remained linked with the sport almost right up to his death in November 2009. Munaron was primarily a sportscar driver who started racing in 1949 and was a frequent racer at the Mille Miglia. He won the Hyeres 12 Hours race in 1955 but also had a number of strong placings in the late 50's, including the Reims 12 Hours in 1957, where he finished third. Munaron then continued racing full-time until 1965, mostly in GT cars. Gino's full name was Virginio Gideno Carlo Achille Maria Lugli Munaron. His father was a distributor for Alfa Romeo and so Gino got to know a number of racing personalities, including Tazio Nuvolari and also worked with the father of Luca de Montezemolo. Gino's godfather was the great pre-war racer Count Carlo Trossi, but despite all this, Munaron came very close to joining the military and having a career in that field, almost joining Italy's Naval Academy.
