Giancarlo joined with Ferrari's Formula 1 team, as one of their test and reserve drivers after a brief spell driving for them, which unfortunately rather than being a step to greater things, ended his long spell driving in Formula 1. Was also involved in running a GP2 team for a while. Now races in endurance events and took a Le Mans class win in 2014. He competed in the United Sports Car Championship in 2016 and in 2017, combined this with a full-time Blancpain endurance drive. In 2018, he raced in the World Endurance Championship and carried on in 2022. In 2023, he won the Campionato Italiano Gran Turismo Endurance title and returned to defend it in 2024. Won the Italian Formula 3 title in 1994. Fisichella's passion for cars came from his father, who ran a garage in Rome. Also runs a driving academy.
