Jan Magnussen
Born: |
04 Jul 1973 |
Nationality: |
Denmark |
Grands Prix: | 25 (1995-1998) |
Until recently, Jan was mainly in the Danish Touring Car Championship and the US based IMSA Sportscar Series, but also frequently appeared at the big endurance events, including Le Mans and Daytona. Also raced in NASCAR in 2010. Son Kevin also races, and spent a while with McLaren in Formula 1, the same team Jan drove for. Jan supports him as much as possible. Jan's own potential was astonishing but a lack of dedication, fitness and organisation led to his Formula 1 career petering out by the time he was twenty-five. In 2019, Magnussen set up his own team with fellow Dane Ronnie Bremer and also acted as a consultant and coach. In 2024, Jan became driver development manager and coach at Porsche Carrera Cup North America and Sprint Challenge squad, MDK Motorsports.
