Commonly known as Kimi, named after the lead Ferrari driver in Formula 1 at the time of his birth, Andrea has been very successful throughout his short career. Twice European FIA Karting champion, he won the ADAC, Italian and FIA Motorsport Games F4 titles in 2022, then followed that up in 2023 with the Formula Renault European Championship. 2 wins in Formula 2, a huge leap from his previous racing, pointed to his ability, but it was still a leap of faith by Mercedes to give him a top-line F1 drive at the age of eighteen. That said, Kimi Raikkonen had a similar amount of races when he made his surprise debut. Antonelli's father, Marco, was a regular Italian Touring Car driver, who also raced in the European Touring Car Championship.
