Injuries led to an early retirement after a promising start, indeed the whole 1965 season was spent recovering and he did well to manage to keep racing until 1968. Retired from driving in 1969, and later emigrated to Florida, where he ran a software business, but before he emigrated, he ran a car parts business in Stansted, Essex. He continued to make a few visits to historic events, but serious illness meant a return to the UK and in 2009, he lost his long fight against the disease. He also had a spell as the racing manager of the McNamara Formula 3 racing concern, who were based in Germany in the late 1960's and early 1970's.
