Died relatively recently. Before the onset of ill-health, Veith went round America giving road safety talks. Bob started racing just after World War Two in roadsters, mainly to join in with his friends, which included Elmer George and Bob Sweikert. He had no plan to race full-time until he began earning money from the sport. He then became a midget racing driver in 1949. He won the Bay City Racing Association Roadster Championship in 1953. Around this time Veith started his trucking business and had planned to retire around 1954 but he was persuaded to continue by Bill Vukovich. In the end, Veith carried on until 1970 before retiring to his ranch. He died after a long period of ill-health.
