Journalist and mechanic, whose career had been blighted by injury, Paul was killed in a horrendous practice crash at the IRL season opener at the Homestead-Miami track. Dana had qualified with a journalism degree before becoming a racing driver, but Paul also had a number of other jobs; he worked as a racing driver coach, driving instructor and as a motorsport PR and marketing expert. His journalistic work covered such publications as Autoweek and Sports Illustrated. Paul raced in US Formula Ford and Formula 3, before two years in the Infiniti Pro Series, finishing runner-up in the 2004 championship. He was badly hurt in the 2005 Indianapolis 500 and his appearance at Miami's Homestead circuit at the beginning of the 2006 season was to reignite a stalled career, but sadly this was not to be.
