Very successful midget driver, who also was one of the few US drivers of his era to race in Australia and New Zealand, which he did in 1961. Died of cancer. Tattersall was a paratrooper in World World Two who served with great distinction; earning both the Bronze and Silver Stars, Tattersall also received a Presidential Citation for his bravery. Bob took up stock car racing initially before becoming a midget racer in the early 1950's. He won the UARA Midget Championship in 1957 and 1958 and in 1969 he became the USAC National Midget Champion. Bob was also a decent mechanic and once served as a member of Lloyd Ruby's pit crew at the Indianapolis 500. In 1987, a midget race was held in his honour at St. Charles Speedway.
