Killed in a midget racing crash at Santa Fe Speedway. A midget ace, which formed most of the latter part of his career, he won three national USAC midget titles in consecutive years between 1960 and 1962. Also, unusually for the era, Davies raced in Australia in the same discipline in the early 1960's. Jimmy also fought in the Korean War whilst still extremely competitive racing-wise. Davies advanced to single seaters very early in his life and career and took a notable win at Del Mar in his first season in 1949.
