Co-Champion of the 1st Indy-Style championship, back in 1909. One of the top road racers in the early days of the sport, he later worked in the media and was also sales manager for Pope Hartford in Los Angeles. He first raced at nearby San Francisco in 1904 before starting his association with the Pope automobile concern, winning a number of races for them. In 1905, he became the winner of the American Elimination Trial. A good friend of Herb Lytle, Dingley also worked as a mechanic on the racing cars. Dingley carried on racing until 1914, when he was badly injured while driving an Ono car at Tacoma Speedway. He made a full recovery, but never drove a racing car again.
