Killed in a AAA sprint car crash. Sprint car driver, who was particulary impressive racing around Oklahoma. Also took a surprise pole for the 1955 Indianapolis 500. Hoyt served in the military between 1951 and 1952, being based in Germany. He was a graduate of the Arsenal Technical High School but as a boy he took part in the Lucky Teeter travelling automobile stunt show. He drove a toy car as a mascot for the shows that proved immensly popular in the 1930's, which included car jumping and driving through burning apparatus and were an inspiration to Evel Knievel.
