Killed in a sportscar race in Argentina. Ran a large car dealership in Greenwich, Connecticut. Raced sportscars mainly and his success in this discipline earnt him an invite to race in the US GP, in which he became the first American to finish - in 7th place - although he never actually drove a F1 car as he raced his Porsche 718 RK sportscar instead in the race. When he went to Argentina, he was reigning title holder in the SCCA Class F Production Championship. Blanchard began racing in the early 1950's as his dealership progressed.
