Killed in a Champ Car race at Trenton. A six-times veteran of the Indianapolis 500, he was technically gifted, fast, but somewhat crash-prone driver. Reece finished in the top ten of the '500 three times; his best finish coming in the year of his death, when he finished sixth, despite being involved in the tangle that killed Pat O'Connor, who hit Reece's car and died. Reece's own death came when he banged wheels with Johnny Thomson on the last lap of the race, the car going off the track and hitting a fence.
