Veteran AAA competitor, but had greater success on dirt tracks and in big cars. Seymour initially started racing on two wheels and motorcycles and even went to Australia to race over the winter of 1924. He became well associated with the Indian motorcycle firm, racing the Indian Scout, Prince and the Indian 8, amongst others, and also took part in a number of speed record attempts on them. Johnny switched to cars in 1927 and carried on until 1939, but was badly burnt in his last Indianapolis 500 and stopped racing.
