Cliff was often a relief driver for Ab Jenkins, who was a land-speed competitor, but Bergere was also a stunt driver and pilot in numerous films between the 1930's and the 1950's, who started as a general stuntman in the 1920's. One of his most notable films was organising the chariot race in Cecil B. De Mille's version of The Ten Commandments in the 1920's. In addition, Cliff also did some commentating on radio and TV and worked as a driver coach. Bergere, who often raced in stock cars, often did not do a full season of racing and in some years, the Indianapolis 500 was his only race, but he was often competitive, taking second in 1929 and two third places. Cliff also worked as a night security guard at Indianapolis Airport.
