Businessman and bar owner, who founded a window blind business, but who also was a car builder and team owner. Father of USAC stalwart Johnny Jr, who was an owner in CART, and who drove and worked as an official. Sadly committed suicide after suffering from terminal illness, borrowing a gun from an employee at the Dayton Speedway to kill himself. Vance, who also raced motorcycles, was born in Tennessee, but then moved to Dayton, Ohio as a teenager to race motorcycles for the Harley Davidson factory team.
