Real name was Luigi Gilbert Tomei. After the war, he worked as an film extra, with his most notable appearance probably being in the Judy Garland and James Mason film A Star Is Born. He also appeared in a film called Jalopy as a racing driver, having left the sport after his last Indianapolis event in 1949. Tomei was already a stunt man and actor before taking up the sport in 1934. His best finish at Indianapolis came in 1937 when he came home in tenth place. Tomei died tragically early when he was killed in an accident whilst performing a stunt.
